The Arakawa River Clean Up this weekend at Minami Sunamachi was a bit of a dud with only 2 people participating, but we were able to collect 17 bags of trash (9 burnable, 2 PET bottles, 2 cans, 0.5 glass bottles, 0.5 pressure cans, and roughly equivalent of 3 bags with the large unbagged items. David Howenstein collected some trash on Saturday and I went there this afternoon. We were only able to clean half of the target area but not a bad haul for only 2 people. The weather today was horrible. It was cold, windy and wet, but ghostly fog blowing across the river a beautiful scene. I almost gave up and went home but things began to clear up. The last photo is actually of illegal dumping at the U-turn in the road under the bridge. It wasn’t part of the clean up but illustrative of the fact that people are source of the problem. So, people are going to have to be the solution
