Eight volunteers collected 48 bags of trash at today’s Arakawa River clean up event near Minami Sunamachi. That was 33 actual bags and roughly equivalent of 15 bags for the large unbagged items. The event was registered with and held in conjunction with World Clean Up Day. Today was supposed to be the last hot day of the summer but with cloudy skies and the Tokyo Bay breeze, it was almost comfortable. After making the reservation for this area, I learned that other grops were scheduled to clean here so we took the backside of the very long walkway, which was not as dirty at the front side. But with 7 regular members and 1 newcomer a lot of work was put into collecting those bags and the backside is now clean. In the photo at the end you can seehow the high tide in the evening began to cover the walkway with water. Also, in the photos at the end, you can see about 15 bags of trash collected by students from an International school the day before. I was unable to attend yesterday, so some extra effort by today’s members was necessary to sort some of the trash in those bags. Mina-san otsukaresama desu!
