Another big day on the Arakawa today! About 30 volunteers collected 76 bags trash. Several people left early and did not make the final photograph. The weather was great and we made further progress with the grass cutting. As planned the cut areas have functioned to trap trash as the tide comes in and out. It just floats in and get back out as the tide goes down. A bit of a surprise today as two homeless people had newly set up shelters right next our regular cleaning area. I hope we don’t end up having to clean up their trash every month. Some of the 300-500 homeless people who live on the first 50km of the river are reasonably responsible with their trash while others are not and just toss it into the river.
