In the 1st event of a weekend doubleheader, 15 volunteers collected 37 bags of trash at yesterday’s Tamagawa River clean up event next to the New Tamagawa Sky Bridge directly across the river from Haneda Airport. It was nearly all first-time participants and very “international” with people from 11 different countries participating, Belorus, China, France, India, Indonesia, Japan (3 people), Malaysia, Thailand, the U.K. (3 people), the Philippines, and the U.S. It was a tough course and as usual trash collection on the Tamagawa is more difficult because we are not allowed to use brush cutters there (as it is a “nature preserve” area) and about 25% of our time has to be used to move the bags from riverside to a public street for collection by Kawasaki City. Meanwhile the large items (tires, TVs, etc.) had to stay where they were because the Tamagawa river office continues to refuse to collect them. Anyway, it was a great effort by a lot of newcomers. Mina-san, otsukaresama!!!
