Nine volunteers collected 21 bags of trash at today’s Arakawa River clean up event near Nishi Kasai. It was the second event in our “mopping up” phase after clearcutting 3.5 of the 7 sections of pods (2.5km for all 7 sections in total) under the C2 highway near Tokyo Bay. With most of the easy-to-get trash already gone, it was a real tough 21 bags and a great effort by everyone in spite of a very strong cold wind most of the day, which made the sunny day not so warm. We will continue to “mop up” with 6 more events to go before the river reeds grow back in late April. Mina-san, otsukaresama!
