Twelve ecowarriors turned out for today’s Arakawa River clean up at Funabori. This was about 7 people during a morning session and about 7 during an afternoon session with a couple of people doing both. After changing to a morning start due to an afternoon rain forecast, we had to give up a bit early due to the midday heat and humidity. We started again about 1:30 and moved to a Plan B by cleaning the backside of the Nakade island under the shade cover of the overhead highway. Then, the weatherman was right as lightning started in the distance about 3:30pm. We got out of there about 30 min. later as the lightening was getting closer and finally got drenched by torrential rains and wind on the last part of the trek back to the station. But in the end, mission accomplished with a decent haul for the day.
