On Cat Day in Japan, 2.22 or nyan, nyan, nyan (Japanese way to say cat sounds), eleven volunteers collected 38 bags of trash (32 actual bags + large items) at today’s Arakawa River clean up near Funabori. David Howenstein led todays event with the strong support of our regular members, Kiyoko, Tomomi, and Etsuko, 2 newcomers and 1 recent regular. Although normal cold for February, I heard the wind made it a bit uncomfortable, but the participants made a great effort at on the back end of the 1st section of pods along with recleaning the front dirty angle. With the grass completely cut in January, we will continue mopping up efforts on this area until May when the grass will grow back. Meanwhile, between the front angle and the back angle, it seems that about 12-15 bags of new trash flow into this 1st section every week
