Eleven people braved the cold at today’s Arakawa River clean up event and collected 55 bags of trash. We worked on both ends of the first strip of tetrapods (about 150 meters in length). As usual the dirty angle had filled up with trash. It’s like a filter that needs a weekly cleaning. Then, one of the two new homeless guys living there seems to have been using the riverside as his personal trash dump. We removed about 20 smaller bags of his trash all of which had to be opened and sorted. Arrrgh!!! This was the final clean up event of 2021. I haven’t tallied the annual total number of bags but will do that soon.
