Five volunteers turned out for today’s Arakawa River clean up event at Nishi Kasai and collected 20 bags of trash (17 actual bags + roughly equivalent of 3 bags on the large unbagged items. A forecast for rain all day kept attendance down, but we were lucky to have a two-hour stretch with mostly no rain. With better weather and more attendance, I had hoped to finish this area today but we just didn’t have enough people. We made some good progress today, but there is still a considerable amount of trash out there, so we’ll do this area one more time at the end of the month. The tide was superlow today at 12:30. Fortunately, no trash could be seen along the outside of the tetrapods, which is not the case further upstream.
