It was a quiet afternoon on the Arakawa today with only one person (me) turning out for today’s clean up event and collecting 16 bags of trash (10 actual bags + roughly equivalent of 6 bags on the large items). The cold and rain obviously kept people away. I should have cancelled, but it is hard to give notice to the 5-6 places where the event is announced. Unless there is a typhoon or lightening, I hesitate to cancel because inevitably someone usually comes. In over 100 events over more than 4 years, this was the first time, that only one person came. There had been about 4 events when only 2 people came. Anyway, today was an experiment in how much trash one person collect collect in an afternoon. I could have got more but the tide was in and nearly all the trash had to be netted and plucked out piece by piece with long tongs. Anyway, it was cold, raining and wet all afternoon, a really tough outing today.
