Fourteen volunteers turned out for today’s Edogawa River Clean Up event and collected 52 bags of trash (44 actual bags +roughly 8 bags on the large unbagged items). There were people from 8 different countries (5 Japanese, 3 Americans, 2 Indonesians, 1 Tawainese, 1 Vietnamese, 1 Kenyan, and 1 Briton). The weather was not too bad for August, and as always the river scenes were beautiful. This area had mostly been cleaned, and we were supposed to do some touch up or maintenance today. However, the recent typhoon had deposited a debris line up along the grass with a considerable trash that had not been there before. I’m not sure if the storm brought it in from Tokyo Bay or if it came from upstream.
