A great effort on the Arakawa today with 23 volunteers collecting 84 bags of trash. Before the main group arrived we cleaned the dirty angle (infamous as the dirtiest spot on the Arakawa), and then again with recent events, due to the summer heat, the main group finished the backside strip of the nakade island, which was mostly shaded by the huge overhead C2 highway. It was our third effort on that strip. It was hot, but actually the cool breezes blowing in off the river made it cooler than most other places in Tokyo. The group photo is basically split because a group of high school students left before the rest of the group had carried their bags to the final deposit spot. The city will collect the trash soon.
