There was a big turnout of 15 people for today’s Arakawa River clean up. We collected 62 bags of trash (56 actual bags + rough 6 bags equivalent of the large unbagged items). This was a bit low for the number of people, but no typhoons have hit Tokyo this fall, so there were no large piles of trash easy to get on smashed down reeds, and also past events had removed a lot of very dirty areas. So, a lower bag number represents progress. We had to work at several areas to find patches of trash. We also cleaned the tetropods, which were surprisingly somewhat clean in this area. Two or three kilometers upstream they are much dirtier. At the end Mt. Fuji was visible, which attracted a lot of attention and picture taking but it did not come out int he photos.
