Twelve volunteers collected 45 bags of trash at today’s Edogawa River clean up on the Barakinakayama side of the river. Of the 6 TRF leaders, 3 were present today along with a semi-regular member and then 8 college students from Hong Kong who were making a school trip to Japan. Part of their assignment was to do some volunteer work during the trip. Although only a little cold today, it was quite windy when we started and upon finishing the wind was super strong. It was amazing that we could collect so much trash in this weather. The students really made a great effort. Mina-san otsukaresama.
(In the last photo you can see some illegal dumping on the spur road that dead ends at the river bank. I’ve been parking there for 7 years now and have seen about 20-25 cases of illegal dumping there. One time someone had dumped about 40-50 TVs there after having cracked them open and taken out the copper coils on the end of the tubes. Anyway, that stuff will be picked up by the city and not part of our cleaning area today.)
